So you’ve become a Reiki Practitioner, now what?

First posted 2012
Great!  First step first. At this point you should be feeling like you want to put your hands on everything and everybody. Good!  And you should be.

But let’s back up a second. How long ago were you Attuned? To quote a fellow Reiki Master: “It takes three to four weeks to adjust to the Reiki I Attunement. During that time the Reiki energy may turn on at odd non-healing moments. You may feel spacey or tingly, have intense dreams…or experience detoxification symptoms…what is happening is that the energy is adjusting and increasing your capacity to channel it.*”

So why don’t you let the energy adjust to your body? What’s the rush?

What is important here is that you give yourself Reiki. Let the energy settle into your body. That will do the trick, for now. Wait a month before you share your gift with someone else. After all, you will have this gift for the rest of your life, you can wait 30 days.  In the meantime, enjoy this wonderful energy on yourself. Notice how it feels on your body, how you feel after a self-treatment. Isn’t it wonderful that you sleep better now?  That you’re more calm than before? That life seems to be gentler, less angry? Enjoy that!  We’ll talk more about what to do with it in one month, OK?
