Reiki Self-Treatment

First posted 2011

“In Reiki healing, the most important thing is to practice daily self-treatment. Just as it is impossible to develop a relationship without being in touch with your friend, it is impossible to develop your relationship with Reiki practice without consistent self-treatment.”  Pamela Miles, Reiki Master

When I have asked students whether or not they do self-treatment, I have gotten some of these answers: “not every day”, or “I forget to do it”, or “I don’t have enough time”.   As the above quote states, “…it is impossible to develop your relationship with Reiki practice without consistent self-treatment.”

By re-tuning your body to the Reiki energy everyday you help keep your body free of blockages.   When your body is free of blockages, it becomes a clear, free flowing channel by which to provide energy to your client/patient.  I had a person come to me for a refresher a while back who said that when she went to give Reiki to a dear friend, she became violently ill.  I asked how often she gives Reiki to either herself or someone else.  She admitted that it had been quite a while she had given anyone a Reiki treatment and that didn’t give herself any at all.

I suggest that you as a Reiki practitioner treat yourself first.  Just as the airlines advise during air travel, put the breathing apparatus over your face first, then put it on your child.  Besides, by giving yourself Reiki everyday you become aware of any little annoyances your body may be experiencing and possibly head off bigger problems in the future.  So, practice daily Reiki self-treatment, it’s important!
